How To Find Your WiFi Password on Windows 7

Consider a scenario. You have configured your Windows 7 home PC with your Wi-Fi router and given a network security key for getting connected to internet. We assume that you have made WPA Network (Wi-Fi Protected Access). After few months you bring in a laptop and try to connect to your Wi-Fi Network for accessing internet. But unfortunately you forgot the Password (Network Security Key) that you have used to setup Wi-Fi!


Your home PC doesn’t ask for Security Key as Windows remembers the key first time when you connected to Wi-Fi network. Hence it automatically connects to Wi-Fi network once the network is available and you no problems in accessing internet.



Normally you are left with no choice, other than to reset Wi-Fi network. You will have to setup and configure a new wireless network. But wait, we have done the work for you. We will give you steps to recover the password associated with your Wi-Fi network without the need of resetting your Wi-Fi Network.

1. On your Home PC, that connects to your Wi-Fi Network, click on the Wi-Fi Network Icon on the taskbar.



2. Right-click on your wireless network connection and click “Properties”.


3. In the Wireless Network Properties, click on “Security” tab. You can see the Network Security Keythat you entered during setup of Wi-Fi Network. But by default, it will not be in readable format.



4. To make the password readable, check the box “Show Characters” and voila your Network Keyis readable!
